Serving Fully Online Students with Better Virtual Supports (E)

Stream: Supporting Teaching, Learning and Student Success

In this 60-minute campfire session, student services professionals, faculty, and administrators working with online asynchronous students will hear about evolving practices at Conestoga College to better engage and support online adult learners. After a short presentation, participants will be invited to work in pairs and groups to brainstorm additional ideas and share their practices for creating health, social, and academic supports that engage online students to participate. Active collaboration strategies will be used during the session to engage participants and capture group recommendations. Elements of post-pandemic practice for flexible and accessible program designs will be discussed and participants will have opportunities to request group ideas for their specific student engagement and support challenges. A final list of collaborative ideas will be openly shared by the presenter in a post-conference LinkedIn article to benefit a wider group of Canadian college practitioners.
