Cancellation of 2020 CICan Conference

Given the continuing concerns over COVID-19 and in keeping with the recommendations of public health officials and provincial ministers to avoid large gatherings and limit non-essential travel, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 CICan Connection Conference and related pre-conference activities that were scheduled to take place in Montreal, May 1st-5th.

Our primary concern has been, and will always remain, the health and well-being of our community – CICan members, sponsors, exhibitors and other stakeholders and partners. All registrants will be contacted shortly and will be eligible for a full reimbursement.

Thank you and we hope to see you at our 2021 CICan Connection Conference in Calgary!

At CICan, we are committed to providing a safe environment for all attendees at our events. As such, we are monitoring the situation around COVID-19 very closely and will follow the guidelines provided by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC).

According to PHAC, the health risk associated with COVID-19 is currently low for work and public events. As such, we are proceeding with our annual CONNECTION Conference and Pre-Conference Events as planned.

In addition, the Palais des congrès de Montréal is closely tracking the latest news regarding COVID-19, as well as any recommendations issued by experts related to public events. A committee is in place at the Palais des congrès to monitor the situation.

Here are the preventive measures implemented by the Palais des congrès, as well as additional measures we are taking:

  • The event will be handshake-free to minimize the potential transmission of any illnesses
  • Hand sanitizers are available in the public spaces of the Palais, and more will be added during the event
  • Posters are displayed in the washrooms with tips for effective hand washing
  • Cleaning services are disinfecting shared surfaces more frequently (doorknobs, stair rails, elevators, toilets)

Our primary concern is always the health and safety of our members, staff, guests and delegates.

Cancellation Policy

In the event that we have to cancel our event, CICan will reimburse the conference registration fees in full.

Further updates will be posted here as needed.
