Time to be Bold: Colleges Activating the Sustainable Development Goals (E/SI)

May 5, 2020 | 10:15 - 11:15

Location: 513 DEF
Track: Embodying Sustainability

In 2015, the countries of the world, including Canada, adopted the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. Using quantitative interconnected targets and indicators, the 17 Global Goals represent a universal call to action on social, environmental and economic problems. Agenda 2030 as it is known, offers a unique opportunity for post-secondary institutions to lead transformative change through the development of new programs, applied research and smarter, greener campuses. In this panel, speakers from institutions across the country will share their ‘view from here’, with a focus on innovative projects at their institutions that are informed by the Goals. Panelists will share ways in which the SDGs are impacting teaching and learning, strategic planning/leadership, inter-and-intra-institutional relationships, and community relationships at their institutions. Participants will be invited to consider ways to generate synergies that can advance change at multiple levels among diverse actors.
