In 2018, Algonquin College launched Student Central, a unique, 24/7 shared space initiative designed to provide students with access to the essential services that help them start and succeed while also responding to a desire for more study and collaboration space. Through consultation, concept development, design and the creation of an integrated service plan, Student Central became home to the Registrar’s Office, Information Technology Client Services, the International Education Centre, Test Centre, Academic Success Centre including Prior Learning Assessment and Pathways, as well as the Students’ Association Food Cupboard. In this workshop participants will experience the learner-centred design process through service blueprint and space design simulation activities. Participants will glean insights into student service space development best practices as well as lessons learned.
