Sustainable Happiness: Fostering Sustainability and Well-Being (E/SI)

April 28, 2021 | 12:00 - 12:45

Track: Embodying Sustainability

Sustainable happiness integrates sustainability and well-being, reinforcing the connection between individual, community and global well-being. We have been teaching sustainable happiness through university courses, professional development and training for over a decade. Participants explore lifestyle choices that can enhance their happiness and well-being while also recognizing the relationship between human and environmental health, as well as making direct connections to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We recently introduced the Sustainable Happiness Semester journal for students, piloted at Dawson College and CICan. The 100-day journal guides students through a question each day that prompts them to consider facets of sustainability, happiness and well-being. Many questions are specifically designed to foster discussion about the UN SDGs.

Our interactive session will introduce sustainable happiness, provide an overview of how it has been applied in post-secondary settings, and showcase excerpts from the Sustainable Happiness Semester journal.
