Reconciliation through Education – Moving from Aspirations to Action (E)

May 5, 2019 | 14:45 - 16:45

Track: Thought Forums

CICan’s Indigenous Education Protocol for Colleges and Institutes was created to be aspirational, to guide colleges, institutes, cegeps and polytechnics as they advance reconciliation by strengthening understanding and reciprocity on their campuses and improving programs and services for Indigenous learners and communities. There are now 65 signatories of the Indigenous Education Protocol. It is time to engage in a dialogue on how we can move beyond aspiration to action. Building on the Protocol, where and how do institutions begin to take the next steps towards reconciliation? What are the barriers and challenges, and how do we overcome them?

You are invited to join colleagues from across the country to share approaches, strategies and lessons learned. A panel of college and institute leaders in Indigenous education will open up this session by sharing some practical tips and tools before turning it over to participants to exchange, engage and network through a structured dialogue.
