May 5, 2020 | 13:30 - 14:30

Location: 513 DEF
Track: Embodying Sustainability

Sustainable Development Goals are high priority for the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC). With thirteen campuses in different communities and almost 25,000 students, NSCC can significantly contribute to the sustainable development of the Province of Nova Scotia. Balancing different competing needs against environmental, social and economic limitations is not a choice, it is inevitable as we move forward, ensuring strong, healthy and just communities. In recognition of NSCC’s innovative and high-impact initiatives, in 2017, AASHE (The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education) listed Nova Scotia Community College as the top-performing college overall in 17 sustainability impact areas, as measured by the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS). This presentation will touch on several interesting recent sustainability initiatives underway at NSCC and how they relate to the UN Sustainability Development Goals and communities we serve.
