Nexus for a Pedagogy of the Future: the Concrete and Innovative Practices of the ACPQ Network (F/SI)

In October 2017, 11 private subsidized colleges in Quebec came together to face what they saw as a major challenge: integrating different types of learners in their institutions. They came to realize that only meeting the needs of students with disabilities was not enough. The collaborative innovation project Favoriser la réussite : mise en œuvre d’une pédagogie inclusive et reconnue au sein des collèges privés (“Fostering Success: Implementing Inclusive and Recognized Pedagogy in Private Colleges”) was conceived out of this alliance. There are now 14 schools that have pooled their resources and efforts under the umbrella concepts of Conception universelle des apprentissages (for Francophones) and Universal Design for Learning (for Anglophones) by supporting different communities of practice and professional learning communities.
Through this dynamic presentation, we will demonstrate that beyond any doubt, the use of inclusive pedagogy on a global scale is a relevant and worthwhile challenge for the future of education. It proposes an effective and respectful epistemology that comes from rigorous scientific reflection which aid in understanding modern pedagogical challenges.
