Lessons from the Intercollege Decolonization Network – A Grassroots Collective (E/SI)

May 4, 2020 | 14:00 - 15:00

Location: 511 ABC
Track: Hacking Education

This panel will introduce the work of the Intercollege Decolonization Network (IDN), an informal grassroots collective that is composed of Indigenous and non-Indigenous Cégep staff, professionals, teachers, and students from English-language Cégeps in the Tio’tia:ke (Montreal) area and of Indigenous partners from local organizations and communities. IDN members have been meeting regularly for over two years to share experiences and to learn from each others’ successes with Indigenization processes at our individual colleges. Free from formal college structures, this flexible network has enabled us to pool insights from our various positionalities as we work to Indigenize and decolonize our institutions at various levels, from governance structures to hiring and retention strategies and from student support services to pedagogies and curricula.
