May 6, 2019 | 15:45 - 16:30

Location: 221
Track: Student Success

New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) introduced the “In Bloom” project in 2017, bringing together expertise and investments to create the right conditions for women escaping domestic violence to thrive at College. Through a holistic approach, NBCC, the Harrison McCain Foundation and local community partners supported student success by removing barriers and creating strong, supportive pathways so that the students were able to pursue their full potentials, achieve their aspirations, and inspire the next generation of new learners – their children. This workshop will provide participants with an overview of the “In Bloom” project, including initial outcomes achieved, effective strategies for community engagement and promising practices removing barriers to increase student participation. Workshop participants will be engaged, through a series of facilitated tabletop exercises and discussion topics, to explore the content area.
