Forging Adaptable, Visual Storytellers in 3D Digital Design (E/SI)

April 27, 2022 | 11:15 - 12:15

Location: Argyle A2
Track: Navigating the Economy

The fall of 2021 launched the first new cohort of a brand-new program at the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design. This Diploma program: 3D Digital Design (3DDD), aims to develop adaptable, visual storytellers and design thinkers without being reliant on specific and rapidly changing technology.

This is a complete shift from the Digital Media Program, which was discontinued the same year.

In the fall of 2020, we returned to work in person. We continued to be supportive of students working from home, and without realizing it we took on a sort of HyFlex teaching model. The workload was high for instructors, and the pandemic accelerated the challenges the Digital Media Program was already facing. As instructors learned how to adapt, we realized that our students needed to learn to be adaptable as well.

Our goal of the 3D Digital Design program is to empower graduates that are future-ready, digitally literate and able to take charge of their continued learning. By shifting our focus, we are navigating the economy anew, highlighting those valuable transferable skills, that will serve our students for the rest of their lives.
