Exploiting big data in education to better accompany students in distance training at the college level (F/SI)

May 5, 2020 | 13:30 - 14:30

Location: 512 A-G
Track: Wiring for Student Success

When Australia’s chief scientist Dr Alan Finkel asked the following question about big data: “What kind of society do we want to be?”, Professor Simon Buckingham Shum from the Sydney University of Technology answered: “We should be asking the same question about artificial intelligence (AI) in education : What kind of education system do we want?”

Let’s take some time to look at how big data has affected education through our experience with distance education at Cégep, where we are being faced with this revolution. Our project is based on a collaborative research approach, in synergy with the instructional designers and professional tutors from Cégep à distance, ranging from the creation of courses to the learner’s experience. Let’s enlighten each other around a symbolic campfire!
