Entrepreneurship as a Social and Collaborative Experience: Lessons learned from a “business collective” project (E/SI)

May 5, 2020 | 11:30 - 12:30

Location: 513 ABC
Track: Driving Innovation

Through a government funded project, the Vancouver Community College (VCC) has developed an innovative project to support immigrant women in pursuing their business dreams – not simply as individual entrepreneurs, but as a collaborative whole (i.e. as a business collective). In this project (called Make It!), participants are immigrant women who want to turn their maker interests and skills (e.g. sewing, cooking) into business opportunities to support their livelihood. In this session, participants will be taken through a journey of collaborative exploration to dig deeper into the possibilities of entrepreneurship programming. The Make It! Project guide can be used by other institutions that are interested in experimenting with the project model.
