Educational Institutions as Creative Places to Work (E/SI)

May 5, 2020 | 11:30 - 12:30

Location: 210 D
Track: Governing Excellence

Creative thinking is now more essential than ever as we face unprecedented challenges, from climate change to the rise of populism.

This session will look at the 10 principles of creative thinking: making associations, collaboration, diversity, data and information, downtime, play, stimulation of the senses, the value of failure, divergent and convergent thinking. These principles are easily recognizable in pedagogy, but how many of them do we implement in the workplace? Presenters will focus on the first three principles: making associations, collaboration, and diversity to explore the different types of structures that can bring together a diversity of colleagues, as disparate experiences, knowledge sets, perspectives, cultures and talents contribute to identify problems and propose creative solutions.
