Democratizing the Delivery of Post Secondary Education in Rural and Remote Communities (E/SI)

May 6, 2019 | 13:45 - 14:45

Location: 207-208
Track: Innovative Education

This presentation will speak to how we at CNC were able to delivery Post Secondary Education to Rural and Remote locations in Northern BC. We have had a very successful launch of our Digital Delivery Instruction (DDI) system, and have been able to synchronously deliver programming to all of our 6 campuses in our region. We are in the process of connecting the learning centers on two First Nations learning Centers, one wired, and the other using satellite technology. DDI has allowed us to deliver programming in a community that was previously unavailable due to cost. Also, when students are taking programming in community they have the supports needed to be successful. The next step in using DDI will be the ability to use personal devices to participate anywhere and will reduce the requirement for students to attend classes in formal locations. DDI has had a very positive effect with First Nations students.
