Connecting the Global to the Local with the Student Refugee Program (E) (GG.3)

Track: Going Global

This session will showcase the Student Refugee Program (SRP) sponsorship model with the goal of inspiring colleges and universities to get involved in refugee sponsorship and help provide more durable solutions to young refugees. It will present an overview of the program and how institutions welcomed refugee students on their campuses through the SRP despite the challenges linked to the COVID-19 pandemic. The session will demonstrate how the SRP contributes to postsecondary institutions’ diversity and inclusion efforts and the range of educational and learning opportunities this project provides to Canadian students, faculty, and staff, as well as to refugee students.
