May 4, 2020 | 09:30 - 10:30

Location: 513 ABC
Track: Driving Innovation

The Centre for Innovation and Research in Unmanned Systems (CIRUS) at SAIT is a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) funded Centre of Excellence which focuses on industry partnerships to drive innovation in the burgeoning Unmanned Systems sector in southern Alberta. CIRUS has considerable in-house experience in the field of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UASs), commonly referred to as drones. CIRUS is organised in an innovative manner, with staff, paid research assistants, teaching faculty, and students all contributing to the success of this initiative. Participants will learn more about how CIRUS acts as a research partner to many different industries. Our research partners range from SMEs, large companies such as Imperial Oil, NASA and humanitarian projects to detect landmines. The unique cross-disciplinary structure of CIRUS is of key importance in its primary mission of helping to develop a vibrant and successful Unmanned Systems industry in western Canada.
