Pre-Conference Forum for Colleges and Institutes Serving Rural, Remote, and Northern Communities

April 27 – 28, 2018

Courtenay, BC (Vancouver Island)

Join us in the Comox Valley on beautiful Vancouver Island, just before the Colleges and Institutes Canada 2018 Annual Conference in Victoria, and make the best of your time with colleagues from across the country. This interactive and stimulating pre-conference forum will provide opportunities for learning, discussion and networking for college and institute CEOs, vice-presidents, deans, department heads, researchers, instructors, and board members from institutions serving rural, remote and northern communities.

More specifically, the Forum will:

  • Focus on “how do we listen and learn from our communities and how do we transform our institutions based on what we hear from our communities?”; and
  • explore exemplary practices and models in community engagement and discuss ways that colleges and institutes serving rural, remote and northern communities can enhance community ties and partnerships.

The event will be hosted by North Island College, located in Courtenay, BC (Vancouver Island) and will begin with a meet and greet cocktail social event on the Friday evening (April 27), followed by program sessions on the Saturday (April 28), ending with a dinner that evening.

Participants can fly directly to Comox Valley Airport (YQQ) via Vancouver, Calgary or Edmonton and then will be bused to Victoria on Sunday morning (April 29) in time to attend the networking sessions of CICan’s Annual Conference, which begin at noon.
